We make comment space available on InsideClimate News for readers to post their thoughts and reactions to the stories we publish, and to engage with each other in civil and productive discourse. To encourage the best use of this space, we want you to be aware of the following three aspects of our comment policy.
What We Enable: Comments from readers who authenticate their identity. We use an open source comment system called Disqus that let's you sign in using your Google, Facebook, and Twitter account, among other options. You can also register and login through Disqus itself. The comment system's networked platform integrates comments and social media so you can follow and amplify the conversation across the web.
What We Prohibit: Any comments that contain threats, insults, or abuses; that might intimidate or harass; that are unlawful, racist, hateful, libelous, defamatory, or obscene; or that otherwise undermine respectful discourse, will be deleted.
What We Reserve: Finally, a legal formality. Please be aware that by posting comments, you grant to us and our designees a worldwide, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, assignable, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right (including any moral rights) and license to use, reproduce, distribute, create derivative works based on, perform and display such comments (in whole or in part) in any media now known or hereafter developed, for any purpose whatsoever, without compensation to you or any other provider of the comments. We also maintain sole discretion to monitor comments, and alter, edit or remove any of them.
