The Natural Resources Defense Council and Environment America said Wednesday they have put six figures behind running an on-line ad blitz that thanks Pres. Obama and the EPA for proposed standards to curb greenhouse gases and other toxics from cars and power plants.
The ads will run on facebook and other social media outlets and on local news sites in four states—Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
"Dependence on foreign oil costs American families $1 billion dollars per day. But thanks to bold new clean car standards from President Obama and the EPA, America will be one step closer to reducing our oil dependency," one ad says.
The groups' investment is aimed at raising support for Obama in states important to his re-election hopes.
