Hawaii Air Force Unit Will Get Microgrid Powered by Trash

The microgrid will be able to function independently from the main electrical grid, allowing the base to operate in the event of a cyberattack on the power grid. The trash-powered microgrid system is currently being tested at a facility in Illinois.

IEA: Renewables Surge Helps Suppress CO2 Emissions Growth for Second Year

Rapid growth in the renewable energy market has helped flatline global greenhouse gas emissions for the second year in a row, according to a new data by the International Energy Agency.

"The new figures confirm last year's surprising but welcome news: we now have seen two straight years of greenhouse gas emissions decoupling from economic growth," IEA executive director Fatih Birol said. "Coming just a few months after the landmark COP21 agreement in Paris, this is yet another boost to the global fight against climate change."

Kasich Bashes Clean Energy, Climate Action

Republican presidential contender John Kasich, the governor of Ohio, just spoke out against growing clean energy resources and taking action on climate change.

Speaking at a town hall event in Youngstown, Ohio on Sunday, Kasich said: "You want to bring more jobs back to the Mahoning Valley, in things like manufacturing? You better have the cheapest energy you can have in the world. Do you know how much these alternative energies cost? A lot more than our traditional energy sources."
