5,000 New Ethanol Pumps Coming Nationwide

Look out for an ethanol fuel pump near you. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently committed $100 million to funding the set up of about 5,000 pumps across 21 states in the coming years.

India is recruiting members to a new international solar alliance set to launch at the upcoming Paris climate talks. Indian prime minister Narendra Modi recently invited about 110 nations to join the group, which is called the International Agency for Solar Policy and Application.

More U.K. Green Subsidy Cuts Announced

The U.K. government's plan to remove tax reliefs of 30 percent or more for community energy schemes came to light this week, offering the latest blow to the country's struggling renewable energy sector.

"Many [shareholders] feel like pulling the plug right now because it is just too much negativity thrown at the sector," said Jan-Willem Bode, the managing director of Mongoose Energy.

A group comprising of parents and grandparents that support climate action are working with Iowans to send a message to presidential candidates of both parties: get behind renewable energy.

"Our message to presidential candidates of both parties is—if you want the votes of Iowans and voters across the country who want a healthy future for our kids—you need to be a clean energy leader," said John Friedrich, a spokesman for Climate Parents.

New Coalition of Lawmakers Supports Energy Storage

Rep. Mark Takano, a Democrat from California, and Rep. Chris Collins, a Republican from New York, have teamed up with the Energy Storage Alliance to launch the Congressional Battery Storage Caucus, a new coalition committed to energy storage communication and legislation.

Tesla Sales Soaring in China

Electric carmaker Tesla Motors Inc. had an especially strong third quarter in China, selling about 1,345 units. Last week, Tesla's Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk said China's sales could rival the United States in five to six years.

Morocco to Launch 580MW of Solar Capacity in Desert

Morocco's Ouarzazate city is going green in a big way. A complex of four linked solar pants with a combined capacity of 580 MW is being constructed there. The blockbuster solar projects, alongside hydro and wind, will help the country get nearly half of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Gov. Cuomo's Big Solar Bet in New York

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has committed up to $750 million in the last five years to one of the state's largest development efforts: a solar panel factory along the shores of the Buffalo River. The factory is set to open in early 2016 and create 5,000 jobs.
