Oil on Ice, narrated by Peter Coyote, is a vivid, compelling, and comprehensive documentary that establishes a direct link between the fate of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and critical decisions made by the U.S. government regarding energy policy and transportation. Caught in the balance of a national energy debate are the culture and livelihood of the Gwich’in Athabascan Indians, Inupiat Eskimos, and the migratory wildlife in this fragile ecosystem. Through stunning footage and in-depth interviews, Oil on Ice establishes a new paradigm that promotes a mode of living with the Earth rather than extracting from the Earth.
