The "lack of hair" in management boards of Calgary's oil and gas companies highlights the coming labor shortage in the sector, according to an industry executive.

"Getting people with experience and management skills to execute the projects is a real challenge," Chris Seasons, President of Devon Canada, said Tuesday during a panel discussion at an oil and gas conference here.

Alberta’s hydrocarbon-fueled economy is facing an acute labor shortage with unemployment levels at 4.7%, while Eastern provinces are staring at jobless levels of about 7.8% in Ontario and Quebec and double-digit unemployment in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
