The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will call Tuesday for the B.C. government to look out for the "national interest" and seize an "historic opportunity" to help open up Asian markets to Alberta's vast oilsands riches.
The chamber listed B.C.'s reluctance to embrace pipelines as one of the top barriers in its annual top-10 list of challenges that must be overcome to make the Canadian economy competitive. Chamber chief executive Perrin Beatty said safety and environmental concerns must be addressed before pipelines are built. He told The Vancouver Sun that Victoria must find a way to resolve its concerns.
