Canadian pipeline company Enbridge Inc. is replacing its 44-year-old Line 6B though southern Michigan. The pipeline's route passes through the properties of thousands of residents. In some cases, the trench is being dug within a few feet of people's homes. One of those houses belongs to Ceresco, Mich. resident David Gallagher. Using an InsideClimate News video camera, Gallagher captured the sights and sounds of the heavy equipment rumbling just a few feet from his living room windows.

So far, no construction has occurred on Gallagher's land. He said an Enbridge engineer told him the company needs to shore up the foundation of his house before they dig the trench on his property. The construction is expected to be completed by early 2014.
