The Obama administration took defensive action today over early assurances that a sunken BP rig was not leaking crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico, issuing a 6,000-word timeline of its actions to try to contain the disaster, and dispatching a phalanx of administration officials to the region.
The move came on a day when BP registered its first success in plugging one of the leaks from a well that is spewing 5,000 barrels a day (795,000 litres or 175,000 imperial gallons) into the Gulf of Mexico.
The action could help BP in its efforts to staunch the flow of oil before it hits the shore, but the potential for political fallout continues to loom large.
"Gulf: learn from Alaska's lesson w/foreign oil co's: don't naively trust - VERIFY," Sarah Palin wrote on her Twitter page today.
BP and the US government are under fire for failing to take adequate measures to prevent the 20 April explosion that caused the leak, or for anticipating the ensuing environmental catastrophe.
The US coastguard had initially claimed there was no sign of leaking oil from the rig. A day after the Deepwater Horizon went down, Rear Admiral Mary Landry said: "We have been able to determine that there is nothing emanating from the wellhead."
Today, however, a coastguard spokesman said that Landry had been operating according to information supplied by BP, which had sent submersible robots down to the ocean floor.
"That was the information that was received by her," said David Moseley. "We don't have the capability to dive 5,000 feet [1,500 metres] below the surface to do a survey. That type of equipment has to be brought in by BP or a responsible party to do a survey."
The White House is acutely conscious of the potential political costs posed by the chaos. The Bush administration took a blow to its credibility in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when officials were seen to be lackadaisical in their response.
The timeline since the rig went down is the focus of investigations into the spill by Congress committees as well as the federal government.
"BP has been in control of all of this information and ultimately when the investigation is complete we will have to ask what did BP know and when did they know it," Ed Markey, who is leading the house committee on global warming and climate change, told MSNBC yesterday.
Since the spill, environmental organisations have accused BP of repeated violations of safety and environmental regulations, and of using money power to try to avoid more stringent regulation.
The Washington Post reported that the interior department did not carry out the routine environmental review on BP's Deepwater Horizon operation after receiving assurances from the company that there was little risk of a cataclysmic spill.
"We have found in many, many instances over the years that the spiller initially says there is no spill or only a small spill," said Richard Chandler, a scientific adviser to Defenders of Wildlife.
"I have never seen a spill where estimates were not consistently revised upwards."
BP said that robot submarines had managed for the first time to block one of the leaks from the well. The leak – the smallest of at least three in some 1,500 metres of crumpled pipe lying on the ocean floor – was sealed with a valve overnight yesterday.
Officials say success will not reduce the gush of oil, but it could make it easier to manoeuvre equipment tomorrow aimed at encasing the oil and channelling it to a tanker.
"It doesn't change the amount that is leaking but it allows BP to focus on two leaks instead of three," Moseley said.
The website for the command centre said that the device, a 100-tonne concrete-and-steel box contraption, could collect up to 85% of the oil spewing from the ocean floor.
It was loaded onto a barge today so it could begin its journey to the leak site about 50 miles off the Louisiana coast.
Deepwater Horizon
The reason British Intel is getting away with this US sedition and extermination event is Americans are indoctrinated in the engineering of consent and have become so much a consumer culture that they do not know how to network correct procedures to route our modern liberal congress. Obama is fronting Intel propaganda at every stage is the Deepwater Horizon sabotage project and, having already assured suffocating the life out of the entire Gulf and Atlantic coastlines, is staging a burn that will destroy Midwest agriculture as well.
While we are at it here, It is no longer a secret that British Intel’s US sedition project would have gone unchecked had there never been an internet, which is why Obama and his modern liberal cronies have directed rider legislation at increasing FCC regulation of the airwaves.
Deepwater Horizon is a British Intel sabotage project directed at collapsing domestic and economic infrastructures and extermination of US citizens. Get it straight, because as soon as BP's burn off is going to take out yet another ecology throughout the Midwest.
Pay attention, folks. PNAC and Neocon are a user friendly labels adopted by US politicians follow British Intel's incursion into US politics through modern liberalism, what actual sedition model involves Fabian Socialism, Keynesian Economics and propaganda involving deadly CoveOps sabotage both domestic and abroad.
In foreign governments, Intel penetrates local militia escalating competition to civil war. Once fighting breaks out, the PNAC throws NATO support in favor of rulers who are willing to but into a PNAC charter. Collapse of domestic and economic infrastructures are inevitable after which JIMA reconstruction loans issue with terms for forfeiture of mineral and petroleum rights in perpetuity, which means that countries temporary wealth transitions leadership and it’s people to a PNAC charter government.
One of the first US assassinations carried out by Intel was JFK. Some people believe this was because he opposed a federal reserve monetary system. This may be partly true, this pays huge amounts of interest money obtained from the public to banks. It’s an immense fraud scheme, but it’s not the entire picture.
Intel’s modern liberalism attacks the status quo forcing the mainstream back and propaganda backed radicalism, militancy and special interests the forefront of political concern thus attempting to collapse domestic infrastructure. Besides RFK, other prominent identity building leaders that represented a threat to or opposed the modern liberal movement have been assassinated as well. For example, Robert Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix were killed because of their influence over huge audiences and unwillingness to cooperate with the modern liberal movement. More recently Ali Bhutto, Aldo Moro, Admiral Borda, William Colby, and Sonny Bono were killed for the same reason.
Intel is getting bolder as Americans have become increasingly indoctrinated in the engineering of consent propaganda promoted by US corporations. these buggers are literally killing tens of thousands of Americans with little or no effort to send them packing. Some examples of Intel extermination events upon tens of thousands of US citizens are: 1) the use of pharmaceuticals on unsuspecting infant populations (ethyl mercury), 2) direct destruction of property and lives (9/11), and 3) allowing massive destruction of the ecology (Deepwater Horizon) which will induce slow collapse of economic infrastructure and US starvation.
The US is currently under siege from British Intel, and most modern liberal democrats support this sedition movement. Intel’s mission is to completely circumvent the Bill of Rights through special interests and rider legislation, radicalism, militancy, thus collapsing domestic and economic infrastructures.
Bilderberg has been billed as the brains behind the modern liberal movement, but this is not correct. Bilderberg funds the sedition activities of British Intel and is invested with the Fed. Working in the interest of Intel’s US sedition project, the Fed is attempting to tank US economic infrastructure through deficit spending, maintaining a currency backed by debt, and conversion of US free market economics to the notoriously flawed EU Cap-and-Trade mixed market system. Health care and climate reform were loaded with rider legislation designed force Cap-and-Trade on US economics. Elena Kagan coauthored the health care reform bill, so it is no wonder why Obama wants her in the Supreme court. She is one of the few people who knows how the rider mechanisms can be used to circumvent the first ten amendments of the Bill of rights. She too is a seditionist.
Other organizations that collaborate with Intel are the Trilateral Commission, ACORN, CFR and G8, and Bilderberg, to name a few.
