2026 Fellowships
Inside Climate News is accepting applications for its Winter Semester 2026 Fellowships, and Summer 2026 Fellowships, all focusing on climate, environment and environmental justice reporting.
For the Winter Semester 2026, ICN will sponsor a limited number of fellowships that require a 10-hour-per-week commitment and last 10 weeks, beginning in January 2026. These fellowships are designed to deepen writing and reporting craft, and subject-matter expertise, and they provide a $1,000 stipend. Successful candidates typically finish the fellowship with a published body of work. ICN fellowships are remote and do not require presence at our offices. Applications for these fellowships—a resume, cover letter and clips—are due by Nov. 14, 2025, and should be submitted to Vernon Loeb, ICN executive editor, or Jamie Smith Hopkins, ICN managing editor.
In the Summer of 2026, ICN will offer full-time fellowships focusing on climate, environment and environmental justice reporting, beginning in June and lasting 10 weeks. These fellowships are designed to deepen writing and reporting craft, and subject-matter expertise, and they provide a $5,000 stipend. Successful candidates typically finish the summer fellowship with an extensive body of published work. ICN fellowships are remote and do not require presence at our offices. Applications for these fellowships—a resume, cover letter and clips—are due by March 15, 2026, and should be submitted to Vernon Loeb, ICN executive editor, or Jamie Smith Hopkins, ICN managing editor.
Thank you for your interest in Inside Climate News. Do not hesitate to get in touch should you have further questions.
